Positioned as a workhorse target among Sony full-frame mirrorless E-mount systems, Sigma 24-70mm f / 2.8 DG DN Art is a versatile wide-angle to portrait zoom featuring its constant maximum f / 2.8 aperture. The luminous design adapts to work in available lighting conditions and also offers greater control over depth of field. The optical design incorporates a series of low dispersion and aspherical elements that significantly reduce a variety of aberrations in order to achieve high sharpness, greater clarity and greater color accuracy. Both the super multi-layer coating and the nano-porous coating were also applied to improve contrast and color rendering, suppressing the reflection of the lens and the phantom effect when working under intense lighting conditions.

To complement the optical attributes, this lens also sports an AF step motor, which offers fast, precise and particularly quiet autofocus performance. At the wider end of the zoom range, a maximum magnification ratio of 1: 2.9 is suitable for working with close-up subjects and an 11-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasant bokeh quality. Furthermore, a weatherproof design is advantageous to work in difficult environmental conditions
As part of the Art line within Sigma's Global Vision series, this lens is designed for truly remarkable optical performance and is ideal for creative and artistic applications.
The standard zoom is designed for Sony mirrorless cameras with full-frame E plug, however it can also be used with APS-C format models, where it will provide an equivalent focal length range of 36-105 mm.
The constant maximum aperture f / 2.8 is suitable for working in available light conditions and also offers greater control over depth of field when using shallow depth of field techniques.
Six low dispersion elements (FLD) and two special low dispersion elements (SLD) significantly reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringes over the entire zoom range for better color clarity and accuracy.
Three aspherical elements control spherical aberrations and distortion for greater sharpness and accurate rendering.
Both the multi-layer super coatings and the nano-porous coatings have been applied to the lens elements to minimize the reflection and ghosting of the lens and help produce images rich in contrast and neutral in terms of color, even in backlight conditions.
The integrated stepper motor achieves fast and quiet autofocus, which is further integrated by an AF algorithm optimized to produce smoother focusing performance.
At the wide-angle end of the zoom range, a minimum focusing distance of 7.1 "is possible with a maximum magnification of 1: 2.9 to adapt to close-up work. At the telephoto end, the minimum distance Focusing is 1.25 'with a maximum magnification of 1: 4.5.
The integrated AF-L button can be programmed to adjust various shooting settings and the lens is also equipped with a dedicated AF / MF switch and a zoom lock switch to prevent accidental extension of the barrel.
The rounded 11-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasant bokeh quality.
The brass bayonet offers greater precision and assembly rigidity and the rubber seal is incorporated into the support design to make it resistant to dust and splashes.
