Panasonic announces new LEICA DG SUMMILUX 9mm F1.7 large aperture wide-angle prime lens (18mm equivalent on a full-frame sensor camera)
for the LUMIX G series of cameras, based on the Micro Four Thirds standard. LEICA DG SUMMILUX 9mm (H-X09) is a one-of-a-kind lens with an extraordinarily short focusing distance of 0.095m and an astonishing 0.25x magnification ratio (equivalent to 0.5x on a full frame camera ). The combination of these extraordinary capabilities makes it possible to enhance the presence of a subject against a moving background. Additionally, this lens offers high descriptive performance and beautiful smooth bokeh, both
in photographs and filming, surpassing the rigorous LEICA standards.
The LEICA DG SUMMILUX 9 mm F1.7 lens comprises twelve elements divided into nine groups, including two aspherical lenses, two ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) lenses and one UHR (Ultra High Refractive Index) to effectively cancel axial chromatic aberrations at long focal lengths and those caused by magnification at short focal lengths. The aspherical lenses also correct astigmatism, ensuring maximum resolution. The presence of a UHR (Ultra-High Refractive Index) lens, synonymous with uniform image quality from the center to the edges
of the frame, helps to reduce the overall size of the optical system. The 55mm diameter filter has a 7-blade circular aperture diaphragm

The smooth and quiet operation of the new lens harmonizes perfectly with the AF system up to 240 fps. In the non-linear setting, the focus point undergoes a shift of variable entity based on the rotation speed of the ring, while in the linear setting it undergoes a shift of
specific entity based on the rotational quantum of the ring. Sensitivity (the focus point shift however rotational) can be set in 30 ° increments over a range of 90 ° to 360 ° to allow for the desired focus. LEICA DG SUMMILUX 9 mm F1.7 is also exceptional in shooting and is able to eliminate the apparent zoom effect when changing the focus distance - the so-called focus breathing, an insurmountable problem for interchangeable lenses limited only to photography. This mechanism ensures professional-quality footage, also assisted by the micro-increment aperture for smooth exposure change.

Thanks to its compact size and a weight of just 130g, the LEICA DG SUMMILUX 9mm F1.7 lens guarantees the exceptional mobility that has always distinguished the Micro Four Thirds system. The solid body, resistant to dust and splash 2
, is designed to ensure maximum reliability even in prohibitive conditions, for example at temperatures of -10 ° C. Panasonic is dedicating itself to the development of Micro Four Thirds lenses to further expand the range and meet the needs of all photographers
