Optimized for video and vlogging
Built with vlogging in mind, the key attributes of this lens relate to video recording performance, ease of use, and an extremely versatile design:

-The internal electronically controlled Power Zoom mechanism allows for smooth zooming while shooting, with control possible via the lens body, using the zoom lever or zoom ring, or from selected camera bodies.
-The internal zoom and internal focus design maintains the overall length of the lens during operation and also helps reduce any shifts in the center of gravity of the lens for better performance when mounted on a handheld gimbal.
-The linear AF system is particularly quiet and smooth, and also supports linear MF response for natural manual focus control.
Smooth Motion Optics (SMO) suppresses focus breathing to help maintain composition accuracy when changing focus. This lens is also compatible with the breath compensation function in some Alpha cameras.
G series optics
The ultra-wide-angle zoom offers a versatile range of equivalent focal lengths of 15-30mm, striking an ideal balance between being wide enough for selfie-style and hand-held vlogging and narrow enough for everyday natural recording. In addition, a constant maximum aperture of f / 4 offers uniformity across the entire zoom range and combines brightness with a compact design.

-Three aspherical elements help achieve high sharpness and suppress distortion and spherical aberrations.
-Two ED elements promote greater clarity and color accuracy by reducing chromatic aberrations.
An aspherical ED element further contributes to impressive image quality by correcting a variety of aberrations.
-The circular diaphragm contributes to a smooth and natural bokeh quality.

Refined focusing performance

The linear motor system uses two separate motors to provide fast, quiet and precise autofocus and tracking. This design also contributes to a more natural and intuitive linear response manual focus control, and an AF / MF switch is located on the lens barrel for quick change of focus mode.
-Internal focus design offers more responsive focusing performance and maintains a constant overall lens length during operation.
-Suitable for close-up shooting, the minimum focusing distance at the 10mm position is 5.1 inches, and at the 20mm position, it is 6.7 inches with a maximum magnification of 0.18x; both of these close distances are only possible with manual focus. When using autofocus, the minimum focusing distance is 7.9 "with a maximum magnification of 0.14x.
