The Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus has been specifically designed to work with the ATEM Mini. It is a high quality broadcast camera with HDMI connectivity to eliminate expensive broadcast connections. The HDMI connection is very powerful, as it connects the video to the ATEM Mini while routing camera control, tally and remote recording triggering to the camera. This makes it very quick to set up for all types of projects.
All-in-one live production camera!
Blackmagic Studio Cameras have all the features of the larger studio cameras in a compact, portable package. With their dynamic range and colorimetry, they produce cinematic images in the most challenging lighting conditions. The sensor offers an ISO of up to 25,600 to create stunning images, even in dimly lit locations like moonlight! Advanced features include command array, tally, camera control, colour correction and Blackmagic RAW recording to USB drives. You can even add a Focus Demand or Zoom Demand to control the lens!
Designed for live production
The Blackmagic Studio Camera is designed for live production, but because it records in Blackmagic RAW to USB drives, you don't have to use it with a live mixer. It can be used with a tripod, for example. The large 7" viewfinder makes it ideal for debates, TV production, news, sports and educational programmes, presentations and even weddings! The large, bright touchscreen with side handles and physical controls makes it easy to keep track of shots, but still fun to use for long periods. Because the camera is so light, it's ideal for when you're on the move and working on different types of projects.
Broadcasters use large, expensive studio cameras with limited mobility. The Blackmagic Studio Camera has all the advantages of a large studio camera because, despite its small size, it is both a camera and a viewfinder. It has a lightweight carbon fibre reinforced polycarbonate body with innovative technology in a miniaturised design. As the camera is designed for live production, it is easy to follow and frame shots with the large 7" viewfinder. The touch screen has menus for camera settings, and you also have buttons for brightness, contrast and focus peaking. A tripod mount with mounting plate is included for quick installation!
Outstanding low-light performance
The ISO of advanced cameras measures the sensitivity of the sensor to light. The higher the ISO, the more sensitive the sensor is to light. This means you can shoot in natural light, even at night! The gain of the Blackmagic Studio Camera ranges from -12dB (ISO 100) to +36dB (ISO 25,600). It is therefore optimised to reduce grain and noise in images while maintaining the dynamic range of the sensor. The native ISO of 400 is ideal for studio lighting. The second ISO of 3200 is perfect for low light environments. Gain can be adjusted from the camera or remotely from the mixer using SDI or Ethernet.
Cinema quality images for live production!
With its fabulous 4K sensor and 5th generation Blackmagic colourimetry, you have the most advanced technology to capture cinematic images. Even for live production! With DaVinci Resolve's built-in primary colour correction, you'll get much better images than with a simple broadcast camera. This can also be controlled from the mixer. With a dynamic range of 13 stops, blacks are deeper and whites are brighter, which is ideal for colour correction. The sensor resolution is 3840 x 2160, which is perfect for both HD and Ultra HD. In addition, all models support from 23.98fps to 60fps.
Frame your shots with a large 7" viewfinder
The high-resolution 7-inch screen makes framing easy. The Pro model includes a bright HDR screen, which is ideal for shooting in bright sunlight. On the screen you'll see status information, recording settings, histogram, focus assist indicators, levels, framing markers and more. You can even apply 3D LUTs for monitoring shots with the look and colours of your choice. The touch screen also has menus. You can load and customize presets for different projects. The included lens hood can be folded to protect the screen during transport and is compatible with the Blackmagic Studio Viewfinder lens hoods.
Physical and touch controls
Blackmagic Studio Cameras include physical buttons as well as touch screen controls. The dials on the right-hand side allow you to adjust brightness, contrast and focus peaking. The focus peaking wheel is very useful, as it allows you to fine-tune highlighted areas for perfect focus when zooming. The 3 function buttons on the left can be customized with functions such as zebra, false colour, focus peaking, LUTs and much more! The function assigned to each button can be changed in the menu. The touch screen also includes essential information as well as menus for camera settings, LUTS and customisable presets.
A built-in tally for On Air status
Blackmagic Studio Cameras feature a large tally that lights up red when on air, green when previewing and orange when recording independently. Transparent numbers attach to the tally light, allowing the camera number to be seen from over 5 metres away! Blackmagic Studio Cameras support the SDI tally standard used by ATEM mixers, and the HDMI tally used by ATEM Mini. This allows a director to switch between cameras and the tally information will be sent to the cameras via the SDI program return stream, turning on the tally on the camera when it is on air. Because SDI tally does not require complex wiring, installation is easy.
Communicate with the director via the command network
Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro has built-in SDI connections that include a command network. This allows the mixer to communicate with the cameras during live events. The director can discuss shot selection with the camera operators and avoid all cameras having the same shot at the same time! The command network connector is located on the side of the camera and supports 5-pin XLR broadcast headsets. The command network uses audio channels 15 and 16 in the SDI connection between the camera and the mixer, and in the program return from the mixer to the camera. So any audio device with built-in SDI can work with the command network!

Blackmagic Studio Cameras feature a variety of connections for broadcast and consumer equipment. All models feature HDMI and support tally, camera control, and trigger recording, which is perfect for ATEM Mini. There are also headphone and microphone connections, and 2 USB-C expansion ports. Designed for broadcast workflows, the Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro features 12G-SDI, 10GBASE-T Ethernet, Network Order and balanced XLR audio inputs. 10G Ethernet routes video, tally, command network and camera power through a single connection. It's like an SMPTE fibre workflow, however, Category 6A copper Ethernet cable is much cheaper.
Four ways to connect
Blackmagic Studio Cameras can be connected in many ways! Because they incorporate HDMI, they are perfect for ATEM Mini mixers. HDMI supports video, tally, control and trigger recording for a broadcast-style workflow via a single cable. The Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro has built-in 12G-SDI for connection to SDI mixers like the ATEM Constellation. There is one 12G-SDI connection for camera video and one for program return, which includes tally, command network and remote camera control. Use 10G Ethernet to provide video, program feedback, tally, command network, camera control and power via a Cat 6A Ethernet cable.
With the HDMI output, you can connect to a mixer such as the ATEM Mini! In addition, the HDMI connection supports tally sending, colour correction control and recording triggering from the mixer.
The SDI model uses the SDI output and SDI program return for bi-directional command networking between the camera and any ATEM SDI mixer. Tally and control are also sent to the camera via the SDI program return.
The 10G Ethernet connection allows all signals and the camera to be fed through a single Cat 6A copper Ethernet cable! This includes camera video, program feedback, tally, command network, camera control and more!
You can even shoot without a mixer, because with its large screen, the camera is perfect for shooting while recording to Blackmagic RAW on a USB drive. With the large screen, framing is a breeze!
Inexpensive camera control via SDI
All ATEM mixers can control cameras using a protocol built into the cameras' SDI video connections. Installation is easy, as all ATEM mixers broadcast control commands from the mixer's SDI program output to the camera via the SDI program input. The mixer can perform colour correction, tally and lens control, and this is sent to the individual cameras. All you have to do is select the right camera number. Even ATEM Mini mixers can control Blackmagic Studio Cameras, because the HDMI output includes data that sends control information to the camera. This allows the camera operator to focus on framing.
An affordable alternative to SMPTE fibre
The Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro connects via a single Ethernet cable. Just plug it in and you're done! Traditional broadcast studio cameras use SMPTE fibre for communication and power, but this technology is expensive. The Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro features 10G Ethernet to provide an alternative to SMPTE fibre. Ethernet includes camera video, program return feeds, tally, command network, camera control and power. The Blackmagic Studio Converter handles all the video conversions at the end of the switcher and adds power to the Ethernet cable. So you don't have to connect the power supply to the camera!
USB expansion port for accessories
The Blackmagic Studio Camera features a high-speed USB-C expansion port that allows you to record to external drives or connect accessories. By connecting an external USB flash drive, the camera can record to high-quality 12-bit Blackmagic RAW files. This means you can simply connect the drive to a computer for editing or calibration, without having to copy files. You can even plug in the optional Focus Demand and Zoom Demand for complete lens control. Plus, you can charge a phone or drive from the USB port.
The incredible quality of Blackmagic RAW
Blackmagic RAW is a revolutionary format designed to capture the sensor data of cameras. Video formats such as H.264 heavily compress images and therefore add noise and artefacts, which can cause some sensor data to be lost. Blackmagic RAW, on the other hand, delivers exceptional, detailed images with true colour throughout post-production. It also saves all camera settings in the metadata for changing ISO, white balance and exposure later in DaVinci Resolve. Because the files are small and fast, the responsiveness during editing is incredible. Only Blackmagic RAW offers the highest quality and fastest turnaround on small files.
Because the microphones are built into the Blackmagic Studio Cameras, sound is included in the design and setup is much faster. In addition, the built-in microphones are shock and wind resistant, so you can get great sound even in tough conditions. Because each microphone is placed at the edges of the screen, you get the benefits of a studio camera with better stereo separation than a regular video camera. The cameras also feature a 3.5mm audio input for connecting video camera microphones, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Studio Camera Pro model has professional XLR audio inputs and a built-in speaker for listening to programme feedback audio.

You also get focus control and exposure tools, 3D LUTs, HDR, metadata entry, timecode, Blackmagic RAW settings and more!
Support 3D LUTs for cinematic looks
When Blackmagic RAW files use Film mode to preserve the camera's dynamic range, 3D LUTs can be used to convert images on the viewfinder screen that otherwise appear flat and washed out. The 3D LUTs convert the image just before it is displayed on the LCD monitor. Thus, images in Film mode are recorded and converted to appear on the LCD screen with a better look. The 3D LUTs are also saved in the Blackmagic RAW files. They can therefore be reused later in post-production, but they are never integrated into the Blackmagic RAW image data. 3D LUTs are carried in the Blackmagic RAW files, but only if you enable them.
DC Power or 10G Ethernet
Blackmagic Studio Cameras offer several power options. All models have a secure 12V DC power connector, so that the cable does not accidentally become disconnected. In addition, the camera includes a power supply with 5 AC adapters for different countries. If you use only one Ethernet cable to connect to the Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro, the camera and all of its accessories can be powered from the Ethernet connection. The Blackmagic Studio Converter has a large power supply that adds PoE power to the Ethernet cable, eliminating the need to connect power to the camera. This is an ideal solution when the power source is far from the cameras!
